Academics

Establish and reinforce an academic program to ensure excellence in the classroom. We will incentivize academic excellence with our student-athletes.

Recruiting

We will be committed to recruiting the top student-athletes coming in to and already at New Milford High School.

Retention

We will be committed to retaining every player who enters into the program.

Development

Institute year long team building, and a comprehensive strength and conditioning program. We are ultimately trying to teach accountability throughout our program. We will incentivize all aspects of development.

Our System

We will run very specific systems on offense, defense and special teams. These systems will be consistent year to year, but adaptable to our current personnel.

Win the Moments

All too often, a game is lost because of a single moment or a series of moments. We will find ways to compete in the weight room, in the classroom, and on the field to teach our players how to “win the moment,” in a psychological and physical way. It must become part of the culture.

Culture

We will examine and constantly work to build a championship culture. We will constantly seek out culture enhancing ideas from all available resources.

Team

  • Decisions concerning the football program are based on the long-term benefits of the team.
  • No player or coach is bigger than the overall football program.

Preparation

  • Preparation is the single most important key to success.

Priorities

  1. Faith & Family
  2. Academics
  3. Football

PMA (Positive Mental Attitude)

  • As a program we will handle adversity and challenges with a positive attitude.
  • New Milford High School has too many advantages to not have a long-term positive mental attitude when dealing with the football program.

Student Athlete Development

Have success in both the classroom and on the football field.

  • Set short term and long term academic goals.
  • Develop a plan of action to achieve academic goals.
  • Execute your plan of action.

Leave a positive impact on the New Milford High School campus and within the community. All players will be required to fulfill at least one volunteer opportunity or community service activity in the calendar year.

  • Community service
  • Volunteerism
  • Citizenship

Who We Play

  • Players who are accountable.
  • Players who know what to do on the field.
  • Players who do the job the way we want it done. Coachable players!
  • Players who are consistent in their play.
  • Conditioned players. Lack of conditioning will keep players from functioning at a winning level.
  • Dependable players who put personal distractions aside.
  • Talent. Players who have the talent to succeed.

Process

Our Football program is committed to:

  • Recruiting the top student-athletes in the school.
  • Retaining every player who wants to play four years of football at NMHS.
  • Developing a year-long team building and comprehensive strength and conditioning program. We are ultimately trying to teach  accountability throughout our program.
  • System Football with specific systems on offense, defense and special teams. These systems will be consistent year to year but adaptable to our personnel.
  • Process in looking to the future with long-term goals but develop tangible short-term plans of action to reach those goals. Our daily actions, habits and decisions ultimately determine success.
